Funaoka – Onsen Public bath

This Funaoka Onsen is a quite local spot, and easily missed by foreigners unfortunately, but this Onsen is undoubtedly one of the best local public bath in Kyoto. As you find from the picture of the gate, this public bath has long history around 100 years. Unusual for nowadays baths, it has the atmosphere of Taisho and Showa era(1912-1990) and you can enjoy Japanese baths culture.

When you visit there, please don’t forget to try an electric bath. This Funaoka Onsen is the first place which started it in Japan. It is a bit stimulating, and good for the muscle fatigue!

Sakura – Yu Public bath

Do you see that Japanese traditional building style? This Sakura – Yu public bath has been loved for over 100years, and one of the most old bath in Kyoto. However it has a long history, interior is well organized and clean.

Hinode – Yu Public bath

Since it was born in 1949, this Hinode – yu Public bath has been loved by local people for long time. And actually, it is one of the most popular baths around there among people from abroad, because of its location. It is located in Minamiku, Kyoto city and it takes only 10 minutes on foot! Please visit there if you have chance to come around Kyoto Station.
